Job Description: Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Accountant

Join Our Team as a HUD Accountant at St. Andrew’s Resources for Seniors System. Are you an experienced accountant with a passion for community impact? In this HUD Accountant role, you'll:

· monitor and be responsible for financial operations for 11 HUD/State grant housing projects,

· prepare all financial reporting and ensure compliance and accuracy in all reporting,

· prepare budgets, monitor reserves, and prepare external communications for all stakeholders.

Your expertise in accounting will be crucial in maintaining financial stability, supporting audits, and managing assets, all while contributing to vital housing initiatives. As a key member of our team, you'll work closely with the Executive Director, HUD Communities , ensuring that our projects are financially sound and compliant with regulations. Key HUD Accountant Responsibilities:

Monthly and Year-End Financials -Prepare and transmit monthly financials to all external stakeholders and transmit annual financial data for HUD projects.

Budget Preparation-Prepare and submit the annual budgets for each of the HUD properties in collaboration with the Executive Director, HUD Communities.

Accounting Systems-Oversee all accounting systems for HUD projects, including reviewing monthly reports, posting accounts receivable entries, and processing payments.

HUD Reporting-Gather, compile, and prepare information for HUD reporting purposes, ensuring all related correspondence meets contractual requirements.

Bank Reconciliations-Perform monthly bank reconciliations for HUD projects, ensuring accuracy and reporting any discrepancies.

Financial Transfers-Prepare requisitions for transferring funds between accounts as coordinated by the Executive Director, HUD Communities.

File Maintenance-Maintain administrative files for HUD and other housing projects, including contracts, legal documents, and inventory.

Property Tax Exemptions-Submit requests for real property tax exemptions for applicable projects, and track changes in filing requirements.

Subsidy Billing-Monitor the status of payments for monthly subsidy billings and post payments to the general ledger upon receipt.

Audit Preparation-Assist in the preparation for yearly financial audits by reconciling and documenting balance sheet accounts.

Real Estate Assessment Center (REAC) Submissions-Process and input financial information required for REAC submissions.

Fixed Asset Inventory-Maintain a monthly inventory of HUD fixed assets, including land, buildings, vehicles, and equipment. HUD Accountant Requirements:

Education & Experience:

Minimum: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting with experience in Sage Intacct and/or One Site programs, with five (5) to ten (10) years of accounting experience. Strong knowledge of HUD accounting practices, business letters and forms, and office methods. Proficiency in computer use, typing, and 10-key by touch.

Preferred Skills: Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills, and the ability to work as part of a team.

Licenses & Certifications: Successful completion of a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening.

Health Clearance and/or official College Transcripts. Current TB Clearance or TB X-Ray (two-step TB Clearance for TLP location)If applicable.
