What are the responsibilities and job description for the SOCIAL EMOTIONAL LEARNING COACH position at St. Joseph County ISD?
POSITION GOAL: To support school staff in maximizing student success in the existing classroom setting through direct and indirect involvement in the completion of functional behavior assessments, development of positive behavior support plans, monitoring of implementation fidelity, and the collection and analysis of data.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree (Master’s degree preferred) in special education, social work, psychology, occupational therapy, or Board Certified Behavior Analyst from an accredited program.
- Full approval, or ability to obtain temporary approval, with the Michigan Department of Education in one area of special education.
- Experience with children eligible for special education programs and services.
- Skills in communication and consultation.
- Interpersonal skills which promote positive relationships with students, parents, staff and community.
- Expertise in identifying the function of behavior and developing behavior intervention plans.
- Skills in data collection and analysis.
- Skills in monitoring implementation fidelity.
- Responsibility of employee to obtain and maintain all training(s), certificate(s), approval(s), etc. and provide documentation to the business office before expiration date of said document(s).
- Must be able to lift 30 pounds.
- Required to have a physical presence at the designated job site each scheduled work day.
- Must have regular and reliable job attendance, performance and the ability to do the job.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Partner with student educational team to operationally define behavior.
- Complete, or support student educational team in completion of functional assessments.
- Analyze, or support student educational team in analysis of assessment date to identify the function of the behavior.
- Provide thorough concise written report that clearly identifies the function of the behavior.
- Provide meaningful interpretation of assessment results and observational findings to parents and student educational team.
- Collaboration with student educational team to develop and implement an individualized positive behavior support plan.
- Provide coaching/modeling of behavior interventions strategies.
- Monitor, or support student educational team in monitoring fidelity of implementation of positive behavior intervention plan.
- Collect, or support student educational team in ongoing collection of data and student progress.
- Analyze, or support student educational team in ongoing analysis of data and student progress.
- Establish meeting schedule with student educational team and communication plan with parent and administrators.
- Collaborate with student educational team to identify phasing out of Social Emotional Learning Coach involvement.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the St. Joseph County ISD Administration

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary for this position is based on the IEA Master Agreement
