What are the responsibilities and job description for the Registered Nurse-Perioperative Navigator position at St. Joseph's/Candler?
Duties:
The Perioperative Navigator directs, supervises and coordinates the activities related to patient flow in the surgical areas. The Navigator’s primary function is to ensure rapid and efficient movement of patients through the surgical system. This position is responsible for assignment and acquisition of resources (human and supply/equipment), problem –solving across the units involved in surgical care, appropriate communication with management, physicians and staff. Uses the strategic planning process; consults with and advises the Managers for the Operating Room, Sterile Processing, Ambulatory as well as the Director for Surgical Services on issues relating to the operation of areas of responsibility; monitors staff behavior (attendance, tardiness, productivity) related to on-time case starts, turnover time.
Requirements:
- Bachelor à Required.
- Master à Preferred.
- Minimum 3-5 years Operating Room experience (preferably scrub and circulating experience)
- Proficient in the following information technology systems: Meditech, Intranet, MSM, BAR, MM, Microsoft Office, Magic Office Mail, MIG, NetLearning, API, PP.
- 3-5 years of experience in Perioperative Clinical à Required.
- Prefer scrub & circulating experience
- Prefer Operating Room leadership experience (Charge Nurse, Team leader positions or equivalent)
- CNOR required within 6 months of hire
