What are the responsibilities and job description for the Women's Head Varsity Softball Coach position at ST. URSULA ACADEMY?
Saint Ursula Academy, located in East Walnut Hills, is a Catholic, college-preparatory, secondary school for young women started by the Ursuline Sisters of Cincinnati.
Saint Ursula is seeking an experienced, enthusiastic Varsity Softball Coach to lead our high school program. The ideal candidate will not only bring knowledge and passion for the game but will also serve as a positive role model who reflects the school’s mission and values. The Varsity Coach is responsible for all aspects of the program, including team development, leadership, skill instruction, and promoting sportsmanship and teamwork.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, organize, and supervise all varsity softball practices, games, and team activities
- Teach and model positive character traits and sportsmanship
- Build a competitive and inclusive program that reflects the mission of a Catholic girls’ school
- Communicate effectively with student-athletes, families, and the school community
- Ensure compliance with all school, league, and state athletic regulations
- Mentor student-athletes in academic accountability and leadership development
- Collaborate with the Athletic Director and other coaches to foster a strong athletics culture
Qualifications:
- Previous coaching experience at the high school, club, or collegiate level (head coaching experience preferred)
- Strong knowledge of the game, training techniques, and rules of softball
- Commitment to the mission of Catholic education and developing young women
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Ability to foster a team culture of respect, accountability, and discipline
- Must meet all school and state coaching requirements, including background checks and CPR/First Aid certification
Work Schedule:
- Practices typically held after school and on weekends during the spring season
- Additional time required for pre-season preparation and off-season planning
- Must be available for team travel to games and tournaments as scheduled
