Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Timber Faller to join our forestry team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for safely felling trees, managing timber operations, and ensuring the health and safety of the worksite. This role requires technical expertise in heavy equipment operation, tree care, and rigging, along with a strong commitment to safety protocols. The Timber Faller will work in outdoor environments, often involving challenging terrain, and must be capable of performing physically demanding tasks with precision and professionalism.
Responsibilities
- Safely fell designated trees using appropriate cutting techniques and equipment
- Operate heavy machinery including excavators, loaders, and bucket trucks with proficiency
- Perform tree trimming, pruning, and care to promote healthy growth and safety
- Use GPS and other navigation tools for precise location targeting during operations
- Conduct rigging and rigging-related tasks to control the fall of large trees or logs
- Manage heavy lifting tasks involving logs or equipment, ensuring proper technique to prevent injury
- Maintain equipment such as Caterpillar machinery and other heavy-duty tools in good working order
- Follow all safety procedures and protocols to minimize risk on the worksite
Experience
- Prior experience in tree care, logging, or forestry operations preferred
- Mechanical knowledge related to heavy equipment operation and maintenance
- Proficiency in loader operation, excavator use, and bucket truck handling
- Experience with rigging techniques for safe tree felling and log handling
- Knowledge of GPS technology for navigation and site management in forestry settings
- Familiarity with tree trimming techniques and overall tree health assessment
- Physical ability to perform heavy lifting and work in outdoor environments for extended periods
