Experience:
We are seeking candidates with experience specifically in early childhood education, including Kindergarten and Preschool settings. Experience may include:

• Four years of classroom teaching or teacher assistant experience in early childhood education (Preschool through 1st grade), including structured daycare settings, Head Start programs, or developmental learning centers. Volunteer or paid experience counts.

• Two years of relevant experience with an Associate’s Degree in Child Development or Early Childhood Education.

• One year of experience with a Bachelor’s Degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Psychology, Sociology, Human Development, or a related field.

Experience equivalency: 1 year = working a minimum of 3 hours per day for 100 days.
A full calendar year at 3 hours per day = 3 years of experience.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
The Site Director will oversee the daily operation of a preschool or early childhood afterschool program for children in Preschool through 1st Grade.

Key responsibilities include:

• Ensure a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment for young learners

• Serve as the primary point of contact for parents, staff, and school administrators

• Build strong relationships with young children through positive guidance and structured routines

• Manage daily attendance, parent sign-outs, and staff timesheets

• Collaborate with staff to design monthly lesson plans, activities, and enrichment units tailored to early learners

• Supervise all classroom and outdoor program activities

• Manage program budget and purchase necessary supplies

• Lead a small team of educators: conduct evaluations, coach performance, and train in early childhood best practices

• Promote the program and support student recruitment and retention

• Maintain communication through email, phone calls, and newsletters to families

• Support staff with training and on-the-job development related to early learning and age-appropriate behavior management

• Maintain compliance with all health and safety requirements (LAUSD and STAR Education)

STAR Education Requirements & Compliance:

• Must clear a background check

• Must be physically able to walk, run, sit on the floor, and interact actively with children

• Proof of MMR and Tdap immunizations required within 30 days of hire

• Completion of paid online training modules via the Department of Social Services within 30 days of hire

• CPR and First Aid certification (training provided)
