Custody, care, and control of male inmates at a medium security facility and to provide supervision to subordinate officers.
The incumbent will work with a diverse group of skilled officers while assisting to train officers of the next generation in an environment where every day is different and exciting.Two years of experience in a correctional, behavioral, or penal institution with responsibility for the security, custody, rehabilitation, or classification of offenders, or in law enforcement or security plus one of the following:1. Possession of a high school diploma or GED; OR
2. One year of experience in any field; OR
3. Six months of law enforcement experience as a POST certified peace officer.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
An applicant who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence or a felony, or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted.
In accordance with the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) (Part 115:17) of Title 28 of the Code of Federal Regulations an applicant who has been found to have engaged in any form of sexual abuse; engaged in sexual activity in the community facilitated by force, overt or implied threats of force, or coercion, or if the victim did not consent or was unable or refused will be disqualified.
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
Possession of a current driver's license.

Job Duties:
Ensure inmates and staff follow the Policies and Procedures of the Department of Corrections and Rayburn Correctional Center
Conducting shake downs/inspections of inmate housing and property and ensuring documentation is completed accurately and in a timely manner
Supervise and train subordinate officers
This position requires the incumbent to have the ability to walk, stand and run for different durations and/or distances. The incumbent should have good communication skills, the ability to maintain awareness of surroundings at all times, and good attention to detail.
- Work with security and non-security staff.
Position-Specific Details:
Appointment Type: DETAIL of a current, permanent, classified employee of LA DPS&C - CORRECTIONS SERVICES (Adult DOC)
- An employee selected for detail may be permanently promoted to this position if the position become available.
This position also eligible for Premium Pay: A rate between $.50 and $1.00 an hour for each regular hour worked, based on years of service with DOC, in addition to regular pay.

- This is a 24 hour facility.
