The Louisiana Office of Juvenile Justice (OJJ) is committed to protecting the public by providing safe and effective individualized services to youth, who will become productive, law-abiding citizens. We are seeking responsible and vigilant individuals to serve as Security Officer (WAE). These temporary/as-needed roles support the safety and security of juvenile justice facilities by helping maintain order, prevent incidents, and promote a safe environment for youth, staff, and visitors. This position is ideal for candidates who are flexible, dependable, and passionate about public service and youth rehabilitation.Minimum Qualifications: A valid Louisiana Driver's License
Preferred Qualifications: High School Diploma
Close from a Juvenile Justice Specialist 4 or higher level position.
Supervision Exercised:
None.
Job Duties:
- Assist with clerical duties
- Assist with transports
- Monitor entrances, exits, and facility grounds to ensure security and prevent unauthorized access
- Conduct routine patrols and report any safety concerns or suspicious activity
- Assist in emergency situations, including evacuations or incident response
- Enforce facility rules and support staff in maintaining order
- Complete logs, incident reports, and other documentation as required
- Provide courteous assistance to visitors, staff, and youth while maintaining professional boundaries
Work Location: This vacancy is located at Swanson Center for Youth in Monroe, Louisiana.
Compensation: $18.00 per hour.
Appointment Type: Part time
The incumbent of this position must not have been convicted or pled nolo contendere to a crime listed in R.S. 15:587.1 (c).
