This position provides executive administrative support primarily to the MIAC Executive Director and the MIAC Executive Board. This position serves as an administrative liaison between governments, state agencies, employees, and the public to ensure all internal and external objectives are met. This position also provides backup support to the communication position.

This position specifically will provide all administrative functions related to American Indian community forums, legislative meetings, and board meetings. Additionally, this position will provide administrative assistance to the executive director and any legislative reporting requirements. Additionally, this position contributes to the finalization of all reports and legislative papers by proofreading and distributes all reports to the public via website and through the mail.

This position is eligible for a hybrid telework arrangement. With a telework arrangement, onsite attendance will be required for team members or as requested by management to meet business needs. Completion of a telework agreement will be required. Please review the Telework Policy for details.

Minimum Qualifications

Skills in

  • Using spreadsheet applications, such as Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets to enter, compile, store, and retrieve data.
  • Typing/Keyboarding, using Microsoft Word sufficient to produce documents such as emails and other correspondence in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Spreadsheet skills, preferably Microsoft Excel, sufficient to design, develop and manipulate spreadsheets.

Knowledge of

  • Writing and editing materials for a variety of audiences, including review for grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
  • Accounting principles and practices sufficient to analyze, interpret, and prepare financial information, records, and reports.
  • Customer service skills sufficient to provide prompt, courteous and accurate information to a variety of customers over the phone, in person and via email.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two years of administrative experience
  • Proven experience working with tribes and tribal governments.
  • Knowledge of Ojibwe and/or Dakota language preferred.
  • Database Management skills.

This position requires successful completion of a reference check.

Incumbent must maintain valid driver's license, and insurance, OR have other reliable transportation.
