The Office of Geospatial Information (OGI) is seeking a self-motivated geospatial expert to lead our nationally recognized Geographic Information Systems (GIS) program at the State of Missouri. This position requires someone that can help us maintain and expand the use of geospatial technology in the Division of Fire Safety (DFS) under the Department of Public Safety (DPS). We are committed to staying current with the technology and developing a team environment.
This position requires experience performing difficult or unusual GIS projects, utilizing advanced GIS skills, and working in fast-paced environments.
This position is with the Office of Administration, Information Technology Services Division (OA-ITSD) supporting the Department of Public Safety (DPS) Division of Fire Safety (DFS).

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Function as the expert on geospatial matters for the Missouri Division of Fire Safety and the Missouri Department of Public Safety.
- Analyze current business processes and make recommendations for best practices of GIS integration.
- Create custom web mapping applications, static maps, and reports.
- Provide solutions to problems through geospatial modeling and analysis.
- Create, obtain, and maintain geospatial data in accordance with industry best practices.
- Work with enterprise geodatabases and servers to house data.
- Convey GIS methodologies and concepts to a wide spectrum of GIS users with varying knowledge.
- Subject matter expert on the use of ESRI software including ArcDesktop, ArcPro, ArcOnline, Survey123, Workforce, and other offered software.
- Work on developing mobile field inspections used by field and office staff.
- Synthesize collected data to be used in reports.
- Work with state agencies to coordinate data collection efforts and collaborate on overlapping agency needs.
- Work with outside state entities to fulfill data requests and coordinate GIS efforts.
- Perform other duties as assigned by OGI management in coordination with DFS.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
In addition to those identified in the previous level: Knowledge of GIS, data collection, and cloud technology concepts. Knowledge of GIS products and analytical tools. Knowledge of types and relationships of spatial and non-spatial data. Knowledge of project management.
- Ability to work independently, taking the lead on new technologies.
- Advanced knowledge of GIS principles, tools, workflows, and database design.
- Knowledge of ESRI software including ArcPro and ArcDesktop.
- Knowledge of ArcGIS Online administration and applications.
- Knowledge of mobile field collection tools within the Esri platform including Survey 123, Collector for ArcGIS, and Workforce for ArcGIS.
- Ability to work with all levels of technical expertise.
- Must have effective verbal and written commination skills.
- Coordinate and manage multiple projects.
- Work under pressure or tight deadlines.
- Problem-solving skills to find the best solution for the project.
- Availability to work extended hours when the State of Missouri is under emergency activation.
