Murdoch Center is currently recruiting a Health Care Technician Lead (Preceptor). The primary purpose of the HCT Lead (Preceptor) is to facilitate the necessary training and documentation skills for all divisional staff. Further, the Preceptor:

  • Assists in ensuring overall program quality and serves as liaison to the Staff Development Department
  • Assists in coordinating the orientation of new cottage employees and agency Nursing staff to ensure staff are properly introduced to Murdoch Developmental Center and cottage policies and procedures
  • Conducts Quality Assurance monitoring, second shift/weekend monitoring, goal observations, chart audits, mealtime observations, divisional safety checks, review of division policies and submits training reports to Staff Development

Scheduled work hours: 8:00am – 5:00pm, Monday – Friday. Hours vary at times depending on divisional training needs. This may involve early AM to late PM on 1st, 2nd and/or 3rd shifts.

This is a full-time position and eligible for the full State benefits package including health insurance, paid sick/vacation/holidays, retirement, etc.

Murdoch serves individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD). Murdoch is a caring community where professionals work with people of various ages, cognitive and functional abilities. Knowledge, Skills And Abilities / Competencies

To receive credit for all of your work history and credentials, you must list the information on the application form. Qualified applicants must document on the application that they possess all of the following (detail experience in your work history/duties that pertain to the Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):

  • experience of providing direct care to individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities

Management Preference

  • Three (3) years experience in health care work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of an Interdisciplinary Team
  • Knowledge in MS Word, Power Point, and Excel
  • Ability to communicate verbally and adapt training methods to audience to relay training needs and assure adherence to policies and procedures
  • Ability to organize and plan their schedule with minimal supervision

Physical Requirements (if Applicable)

  • Applicant must have the ability to pass a physical requirements test, must be certified in or able to obtain an instructor certification in NVCI and APS (Crisis Prevention Institute) and AHA Health Care Provider (CPR), Body Mechanics and lifting.

Minimum Education And Experience Requirements

High school or General Educational Development diploma and two years of closely related work experience

or

an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Special Condition for Continued Employment As required, listing as a Nurse Aide I by the North Carolina Division of Health Service Regulation. As applicable, listing as a Nurse Aide II by the North Carolina Board of Nursing. As required by the Department of Public Safety, must be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Training and Standards Counsel. As applicable, North Carolina Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification. **Not required at Murdoch.**
