What are the responsibilities and job description for the Natural Resource Technician II position at State of South Carolina?

This employee will be tasked with assisting Region II Unit A personnel with the comprehensive management of WMAs, public dove fields and facility upkeep and maintenance.

Job Duties Include:

Posting boundary and WMA signs.
Grading, mowing, repairing and daylighting roads as needed.
Planning and implementing forest management activities at Woodbury, Marsh and Pee Dee Station WMAs.
Trapping and banding doves.
Collecting CWD samples.
Completing a variety of wildlife surveys as assigned.
Completing routine maintenance of Region 2 facilities and operational equipment.
Completing routine maintenance of Marsh WMA clubhouse.
Assisting with/conducting public hunts on areas within the Unit.
Maintaining accurate records and submitting reports as required.

A high school diploma and two (2) years of related experience in wildlife, fisheries or agricultural work; or an associate degree in the technical sciences.Ability to operate farm machinery (tractors and implements) and other heavy equipment (backhoe, dozer, motor grader). Ability to operate ATV, chain saw, power tools, and make minor repairs on equipment. Ability to work in remote locations in inclement weather, lift heavy objects, conduct hunts, and communicate with the general public in a positive manner.

Salary : $23,885 - $44,199
