Job DescriptionThe Summer Law Clerk will work at DEW during the summer between their first and second years of law school. Students may be subject to a security background investigation due to the nature of the work performed by the agency. The position is housed within the Office of General Counsel (OGC). At the direction of a managing attorney, the law clerk will compile appellate records, draft appellate briefs, draft motions, perform legal research, and prepare memorandums. The law clerk may also be provided opportunities in other DEW divisions such as governmental affairs, workforce development, appeals, and equal opportunity.Candidates should be currently enrolled in an ABA accredited law school and have completed the 1L year of law school by the start of the summer in which they clerk. Candidates requiring part-time hours, or a split summer will also be considered.
