Under the general guidelines of a direct supervisor:
  • Implements services for individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities in a group setting to include leisure, vocational, pre-vocational, and daily living skills.
  • Completes assessments, implements programs based on assessed needs.
  • Completes all documentation to include but not limited to data on objectives, attendance reports, individual and weekly payroll reports.
  • Provides training in self-help skills to consumers and serve as coverage staff in the residential units.
  • Offer guidance to Direct Support Professionals in the care, and training of individuals with intellectual disabilities and special needs.
  • Ensures health, safety and accountability of individuals with disabilities.
  • Adheres to OIDD written rules, regulations, and policies.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

This position is eligible for up to $3.50/hour shift differential for applicable shifts!


Whitten Regional Center is an Intermediate Care Facility for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (ICF-IID) of the South Carolina Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (BHDD), Office of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (OIDD) located in Clinton, SC serving residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities. A high School Diploma and one year (1) year of experience in direct support of persons with intellectual and related disabilities. A bachelor's degree may substitute for the required experience.
Must possess administrative abilities and general knowledge of intellectual disabilities. Must have basic computer skills to include the use of Therap and MySCCentral for time and leave purposes (Electronic Documentation System). Must possess knowledge of relevant federal and state regulations and basic safety practices. Must have communication skills to include; reading and writing. Basic mathematic skills. Must possess a valid SC Driver's License. Physical abilities include; lifting, pushing, standing, stooping, bending, pulling, walking, and running. Must be physically able to work with individuals who may be physically aggressive or medically fragile. Must have the ability to work in a ICF.

Immunization: If this position requires the applicant to work directly with consumers of The South Carolina Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities, Office of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, tuberculosis (TB) skin or blood testing must be completed prior to beginning employment. All new employees who are healthcare providers are required to provide documentation of immunity or be immunized against measles, mumps, rubella, pertussis, Varicella and Hepatitis B prior to beginning employment.
 
State Disaster Plan: In accordance with the State's Disaster Plan, which includes hazardous weather, employees of The South Carolina Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities, Office of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities may be required to work in times of an emergency or disaster.
