Advanced Care Practitioner Lead On-Call (ACP)
Coyote Ridge Corrections Center (CRCC)
Connell, WA

The Department of Corrections is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual for the role of On-Call Advanced Care Practitioner for the Coyote Ridge Corrections Center (CRCC) located in Connell, WA just outside of the Tri Cities. This position may be filled by a Physician Assistant-Certified or an Advance Care Nurse Practitioner (ARNP).
 
Under the supervision of the Health Services Manager and the Facility Medical Director, this position is responsible for delivering high quality health care to incarcerated individuals of the Coyote Ridge Corrections Center in a timely and professional manner, promote a healthy lifestyle, and provide patient health care education. This includes but is not limited to assessing, diagnosing, and treating a multitude of medical issues encountered. This position monitors, managers, coordinates, and delivers health care and counsels, consults, teaches, advises, and provides health care information to the patient that improves the quality and continuity of health services. Supervises and monitors all levels of health care services delivered to the incarcerated population and assists Health Care Managers and the Facility Medical Director in monitoring expenditures, planning, and organizing health care services, facilities, and other programs.

Coyote Ridge Corrections Center has a diverse population seeing different chronic diseases and taking care of those that need long term and palliative care.
  • Extended Observations unit up to 96 hr. stay (4 beds)
  • Long term palliative care unit
  • See up to 2500 patients with different chronic disease ( diabetes, hypertension, cancer, autoimmune disorders and much more)

  • Provide high-quality healthcare
    1. Diagnose health related problems and determine outcomes.
    2. Ensure continuity of care
    3. Implement plan of care by providing direct patient care.
    4. Analyze and evaluate the structure, process, and timeframes for service delivery; the expected effects of treatment or intervention; the outcomes to be achieved; revision of the plan of care to prevent complications; and intervene to address new or emerging problems or to improve care and services delivery.
    5. Perform minor surgical procedures.
    6. Order and interpret appropriate diagnostic laboratory tests and x-rays.
    7. Prescribe medications.
  • Complete screenings/physical exam
    1. Complete initial screening
  • Provide Effective communication and documentation
  • Actively participate in clinically wide coordinated quality improvement program (CQIP) projects and programs
  • Delegate and assign patient responsibility through appropriate communication to the nurses and assistive nursing personnel.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
  • Certification as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician’s Assistants.
AND
  • Must hold unrestricted license to practice as a midlevel practitioner and prescribe scheduled drugs.
  • Licensure (PA-A, RN, ARNP) must be valid and continuously unrestricted.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • One year working experience as an ARNP or PA-C.
  • Ability to perform basic skills as listed on the Employer's Skills Inventory. Demonstrates skill competency periodically as scheduled.
  • Ability to use the computer to enter schedule, monitor, and track patient information, work process, and communicate via email.
  • Ability and willingness to transition to electronic health records should DOC implement this form of charting.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with a diverse range of patients, staff, and stakeholders.

  • Tuberculosis (TB) is a priority health issue for DOC employees.
