We received an exception to fill a full-time, non-permanent Office Assistant 3 (OA3) position within the Community Corrections Division. This position works for the Longview Field Office 379 located at 1953 7th Ave, Longview, WA 98632. This non-permanent opportunity is expected to last about six months.

Under general supervision from the Secretary Supervisor, the OA3 supports the Secretary Supervisor, Office Assistant Lead, Community Corrections Supervisor, and Community Corrections Officers by performing a variety of complex clerical projects and assignments. This position maintains supervised individual’s field files & information for accuracy, processes a variety of correspondence, utilizes various databases, and provides customer service in a collaborative effort to improve public safety. Work hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

  • Manage a multi-line phone system.
  • Greet and direct clients, general public, and/or stakeholders to the appropriate staff. 
  • Process incoming/outgoing mail.
  • Manage electronic and paper files.
  • Database entry and retrieval from various systems, such as OMNI (Offender Management Network Information) and ICOTS (Interstate Compact Offender Tracking System).
  • Create and edit correspondence.
  • Manage inventory and order supplies as needed.
Other duties as assigned.Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • And computer knowledge.
The successful candidate will possess the following skills and abilities:
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
  • Must respect and maintain confidentiality. 
  • Ability to assist individuals with various criminal backgrounds.
  • Ability to file, use proper grammar, punctuation, and spelling. 
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with coworkers, the public, and criminal justice agencies/stakeholders.

  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).

  • Salary is based on experience and is determined at the time an offer of employment is made. The salary listed in the job posting includes Steps A-M. Step M is a longevity step and is typically gained six years after being assigned to Step L in your permanent salary range.
