  • This is an INTERNAL recruitment, open to current, permanent WA State Dept of Corrections (DOC) employees only. 
  • Employees assigned to a permanent duty station in King County will receive a 5% premium pay calculated from their base salary.

Our agency is actively recruiting to INTERNALLY fill one full-time, permanent Corrections and Custody Officer 2 (CO2) vacancy within the Community Corrections Division. This position works for the Western Washington Work Crew located at 1550 4th Avenue, Seattle, WA 98134. 

The CO2 supervises individuals who are performing community restitution (work crew/community service) and will be responsible for safety and security, directing and monitoring work, and the direct supervision of supervised individuals performing general labor tasks in the community. This position will work in a team environment that consists of a Workcrew Program Manager (PM), Community Corrections Supervisor (CCS), Community Corrections Officers (CCOs), Corrections Officers (COs), and Office Assistant 3s (OA3s). Shift hours: Monday-Friday 0730-1500.

  • Supervise, instruct, and monitor individuals ordered to perform community restitution (work crew/community service) to include safely operating state vehicles and maintaining worker safety.
  • Apply appropriate, constructive, and professional authority by communicating with supervised individuals and staff.
  • Serve as a positive and motivating role model to work crew participants. 
  • Administrative duties to include maintaining and managing documentation.
  • Other duties as assigned. 
Required Qualifications
  • One year of experience as a Corrections and Custody Officer with the WA State Department of Corrections (DOC) which includes the successful completion of the Correctional Officer training plan.
  • And must possess and maintain a vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Washington.
OR
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • One year of experience as a Correctional Officer in adult or juvenile corrections where security functions equivalent to a DOC Corrections and Custody Officer 2 were performed.
  • And must possess and maintain a vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Washington.

  • Complete a felony disclosure form prior to employment and submit to a criminal background check.
  • Complete and pass the psychological screening (Battery Exam and Psychological Interview/Evaluation). 
  • Submit to drug testing in accordance with Collective Bargaining Agreement and agency policy.
  • Successfully complete, within mandated timeframes, employee orientation and all other mandatory annual, in-service, and other required training. 
  • Become familiar and comply with all department policies and procedures and Collective Bargaining Agreements, as applicable.

  • Salary is based on experience and is determined at the time an offer of employment is made. The salary listed in the job posting includes Steps A-M. Step M is a longevity step and is typically gained six years after being assigned to Step L in your permanent salary range.
