Introduction
Sand Ridge Secure Treatment Center (SRSTC) within the Department of Health Services (DHS) is hiring multiple full-time Treatment Specialists in Mauston, WI. These positions will work Monday-Friday.
SRSTC opened in 2001 and houses Wisconsin's Sexually Violent Persons Program. In 2018 SRSTC expanded to provide services for Chapter 971 patients. SRSTC is a 500-bed treatment facility and is part of the Division of Care and Treatment Services (DCTS). Watch this video to learn more about the work of DCTS.

Position Summary
As a Treatment Specialist at SRSTC, you will be responsible for developing, coordinating, implementing, and monitoring sexual offender treatment programming interventions in conformance with the Treatment Department goals and methods. You will:
- Observe and document patient’s behavior during treatment sessions.
- Participate as an active member of the multi-disciplinary treatment team, collaborating with licensed treatment providers, and others to adjust treatment approaches to increase effectiveness and help patients address possible risk factors and achieve treatment goals.
- Train, guide, and serves as a primary contact person between patients and institution staff.
- Participate in program development, evaluation, and continuous improvement efforts.
Salary Information
The starting pay is between $25.00-$31.00 per hour (approximately $50,000-$62,400 per year) depending on qualifications, plus excellent benefits. A 12-month probationary period is required.
Pay for current or former state employees will be set based on the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction. The positions are classified as Treatment Specialist 1s and are in pay schedule and range 12/64.
Job Details
All applicants who may be appointed will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.
All appointees will be required to receive a TB test, which will be administered by SRSTC or medical personnel approved by the facility prior to their start date.
Qualifications
Minimally qualified applicants will have all of the following:
- Experience participating as a member of a multi-disciplinary treatment team.
- Experience documenting objective observations of human behavior.
- Experience using computer programs for data entry and documentation (e.g., MS Excel, MS Word, SuperVised Patients Information System (SVPIS), etc.).
Well-qualified applicants will also have one or more of the following:
- Experience working with persons who have a criminal history, mental health issues, or personality disorders.
- Experience facilitating psycho-educational or skills training groups.
- Experience with clinical concepts such as Risk-Need-Responsivity Model, motivational interviewing, or trauma-informed care.
- Educational degree in a human services field such as social work, counseling, criminal justice, etc.
