What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part-Time Program Aide/Substitute position at STEPS Inc.?
We are seeking individuals for opening 7:30 - 9:00 am and closing 3:30-5:30 pm shifts at our Farmville VA locations, as well as candidates for our substitute pool serving the counties of Amelia, Buckingham, Charlotte, Nottoway, Lunenburg, Appomattox, and Prince Edward. Job Summary
The Program Aide is responsible for assisting classroom staff with daily supervision of children and maintaining the required classroom ratios. They will float between all site classrooms to provide adequate coverage. They will assist with the preparation of meals and snacks, assist children with toileting, follow proper diapering procedures, demonstrate developmentally appropriate quality interactions with children, aid in curriculum delivery and instruction, clean and support the team to maintain a clean facility. They will report to the Site Administrator, under the direction of the Assistant Director of Programs.
General Qualifications
High School Diploma. It is preferred that the Program Aide have course work and training in early child development or education.
Duties
- Assists with food service meals/snacks in accordance with the CACFP requirements and posted menu.
2. Ensure classroom staff have adequate classroom/playground coverage to maintain Licensing and Head Start Standards.
3. Participates in staff meetings and required training.
4. Participate in grantee pre-service and other training as assigned.
5. Cooperate with other staff and classroom groups to maintain the smooth functioning
of the center, which at times may require changes to meet the needs of the children.
6. Assist in providing and maintaining a safe and healthy, 0developmentally appropriate
environment.
7. Complete timely and accurate timesheets.
8. Actively participate in the development and implementation of your Professional Development Plan and supervision.
10. Assist with cleaning & sanitizing workspaces.
11. Assist with toileting, diapering and potty training.
12. Interact with children in a positive and respectful manner, serving as a role model.
13. Assist teaching staff with curriculum as requested.
14. Comply with all agency policies & procedures
15. Cross train and substitute in the kitchen and as a Bus Monitor and fill in as needed.
15. Perform other duties as may be required.
