Job Summary: Advanced Practice Provider for Detention Center Healthcare
Strategic Resources, Inc. (SRI) is seeking a full-time Advanced Practice Provider to provide critical services to detainees in custody at the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Health Services Corps (IHSC) Medical Facilities.
About the Job
The Advanced Practice Provider will work as part of an integrated healthcare team to provide acute, emergent, and chronic healthcare to patients in compliance with IHSC policy and guidance and accreditation standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Adhere to the IHSC Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Collaborative Practice and Prescriptive Authority Agreement (CP/PAA)
- Work as part of an integrated healthcare team to provide comprehensive history and physical evaluations, behavioral healthcare, and minor outpatient surgical procedures for detainees
- Perform lab/diagnostic ordering and interpretation, medication prescribing practices, referrals to consultants, and follow-up after hospitalization or consultation
- Participate in and comply with court-ordered treatment plans to include evaluation and treatment of patients with psychiatric illness or life-threatening conditions
- Provide full spectrum of age and gender-specific healthcare to include treatment of gender dysphoria and pregnancy
- Consult with the staff physician, clinical director, and/or IHSC consultants as required by policy and for complex medical and/or psychiatric patients
- Provide infirmary care, including admission, discharge, and daily rounds for patients that require a higher level of care and monitoring
- Interpret Tuberculin skin tests (TSTs) and diagnostic studies, manage Direct Observation Therapy (DOT) for treatment of active or latent tuberculosis
- Take appropriate infection control actions in accordance with IHSC policy and guidance
- Provide relevant patient health education to detainees verbally and/or with handouts
- Assist with preparation for accreditation and ongoing compliance with standards as assigned
- Attend on-site, regional, and national meetings as required
- Complete all initial, annual, and ad-hoc training as required
- Participate in all required credentialing and peer review processes as required
- Facilitate and mentor APP onboarding and training
- Demonstrate level of productivity that is on par with the average APP productivity at the assigned facility
Requirements
- Graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant program or Family Nurse Practitioner program
- One-year full-time equivalent of experience in primary care as a licensed Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
- Clinical experience must be current and within the past five years
- Experience in a detention, correctional, or residential healthcare setting (preferred)
- Additional requirements for Family Residential Centers: one-year full-time equivalent of experience in primary care as a licensed Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant with proficiency providing care to women and pediatric patients of all ages
Preferred Qualifications
- Verbal and written proficiency in Spanish
- Knowledge of regulations (HIPAA/Privacy Act) regarding the confidentiality of patient medical records and information as well as Personally Identifiable Information (PII)

Security Requirements
- The Department of Homeland Security's Personnel Security Unit (PSU) must render a Preliminary Favorable Fitness Determination to be considered a qualified candidate
- A Complete Favorable Fitness Determination must be rendered by PSU upon completion of initial and subsequent background investigations to meet the requirements of this position
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or Legal Permanent Resident
- Must have resided in the U.S. or its territories for three (3) or more years out of the last five (5) years
