ULTRASOUND TECHNOLOGIST
The Ultrasound Technologist is responsible for performing high quality Ultrasound scans; assists physicians as needed during procedures; and provides a high degree of compassionate patient care. This non-exempt position reports to the Director of Radiology and is part of the Ultrasound Department.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- Education sufficient to be Ultrasound registry eligible through the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
Experience/Skills
- At least one year of ultrasound experience preferred, but not required.
Required Licenses/Certifications
- ARDMS Registration
- CPR

- May work “on call” when needs required

Ultrasound Duties
- Performs ultrasound exams according to department protocols
- Consults with radiologist and/or ordering provider as appropriate

Obtains a history and appropriate diagnosis for exam
- Completes all appropriate documentation
- Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate for patient’s age level, physical condition, mental condition, and emotional status
- Checks department requisitions and schedule and prioritizes appropriately
- Recognizes duties requiring completion but not directly assigned
- Regularly helps other staff
- Maintains a clean and organized work environment
Department Specific Focus
- Ensures all charges are documented accurately and charged out correctly
