What are the responsibilities and job description for the Enterprise Cloud Engineer position at Summit Credit Union?
The Enterprise Cloud Engineer is responsible for driving cloud computing initiatives across the organization. Define and execute on an enterprise cloud strategy including security, governance, development, and automation. Lead the building and deploying of platform, software, and infrastructure as a service. Lead a Cloud Center of Excellence team to provide a secure, stable, and fast environment for future growth.
Essential Functions- Develop and Maintain Cloud Strategy:
- Ensure alignment with current and future organizational goals
- Build business case for cloud with automation, optimization, and efficiency as key drivers to create a fast, flexible, and stable platform
- Create criteria for evaluating and managing cloud service providers
- Develop documentation for all new procedures, processes, workflows
- Establish cloud governance
- Evaluate skill gaps and provide mentoring
- Drive cloud adoption through understanding of automation
- Create best practice expectations for PAAS, IAAS, and SAAS offerings
- Design and Implement Cloud Architecture:
- Ensure Identity and Access Management policies are correctly translated to cloud
- Maintain security and compliance of cloud resources
- Evaluate applications and solutions for cloud readiness
- Consult with IT on DevOps solutions to design scalable, resilient, and responsive applications
- Develop data and data analytics offerings
- Create DevOps Toolchain to follow cloud software through the development lifecycle.
- Identify and create automated processes for all repeatable workflows
- Develop a framework for continually updating systems for functionality, security, and stability
- Deploy tools required to audit user, system and resource usage
- Audit cloud environments for regulatory, security and performance enhancements
- Operate at scale
- Provide thought leadership
- Guide organization on cloud evolution and journey to digital transformation
- Assist IT in translating current processes into agile cloud framework
- Educate resources on modern cloud philosophy of innovation, rapid enablement, and elastic growth.
- Provide day-to-day support:
- Guarantee outage resolution, system/data access, and optimal performance and availability
- Lead cross infrastructure problem tickets to resolution
- Provide tier three (top level) support
- Provide evening and weekend technical support as required as well as on-call duties
- Complete incident and change tickets as assigned
- Manage relationships with service providers, VARs, and software/infrastructure vendors
- Use monitoring tools and system logs to proactively find and fix issues
- Understands and is accountable for executing all job functions in a way that is consistent with all requirements of BSA, OFAC, and the USA Patriot Act/Customer Identification Act (CIP). Note: Failure to comply with requirements may be subject to strong disciplinary action, up to and including termination by the credit union, as well as, civil and criminal penalties.
- Assist with additional projects and other duties as assigned by departmental leadership.
Job Specifications
- Four-year degree in IT related field, five to seven years of applicable professional experience, and demonstrated strong technical acumen; or five to ten years applicable professional experience and demonstrated strong technical acumen and technical certification. Relevant cloud certifications preferred.
- Well-developed interpersonal skills essential for professional interactions with all levels of credit union staff under normal and adverse circumstances.
- Working knowledge of application architecture including design, security, segmentation, APIs, and platforms.
- Advanced knowledge of system, tool and language automation techniques. Strong knowledge in scripting, programming, and using APIs.
- Understanding of the CCoE and how to implement at scale.
- Demonstrate knowledge of core cloud features including multi-tenancy, containerization, orchestration, high availability and elastic scalability.
- Ability to architect enterprise level cloud compute, storage and networking solutions. Integrate 3rd party solutions as needed to augment business requirements.
- Experience deploying PAAS, IAAS, and SAAS environments including AWS, GCS, MS Azure, O365, and/or Salesforce.
- Understanding of Identity Access Management tools including AzureAD, Okta, RSA or other SAML provider.
- Experience leading major projects. Ability to prioritize tasks; manage time with resources from within and outside department.
- Requires detailed, team oriented working style with the ability to apply critical thinking to resolve problems in new situations.
- Experience managing critical vendor relationships.
