Vision for Role
The Lead AVL Technician leads a crew of install technicians at Summit Integrated project sites following industry standards and project plans, and operates as an extension of the Project Foreman to ensure effective and efficient execution of various installation tasks across a wide range AVL system installation projects. As their skills progress, they may also manage and lead smaller or less complicated installations on their own. The Lead AVL Technician has at least intermediate mastery of all advanced install areas (Wire Pull, Terminations, Rigging, Field Install) and works without supervision. The Lead AVL Technician mentors and develops individual team members through training and coaching, and ensures the on-site team is operating in alignment with Summit Core Values.

Responsibilities:

Work Lead

  • Serves as the first point of contact for resolution of day-to-day employee issues, allowing Foreman to focus on more complex problems when possible.
  • Leads teams to execute a Foreman’s installation plan, and may be asked to lead the onsite operations for up to 1 week unaccompanied by a Project Foreman directly.
  • Primarily responsible for on-site training and guidance to AVL Technicians on the attainment of Basic & Advanced Skillsets as outlined in the AVL Technician matrix.
  • Provides direct feedback to technicians with an eye toward encouraging growth, and informs Foremen and the Technical Development Manager on the status of technician skills mastery.
  • Provides input into supervisory decisions and performance assessments and may also occasionally perform some supervisory duties related to skills development.
  • Adjusts to fluctuations in workforce (e.g. employee call outs, jobsite conditions), shifts work priorities as needed, and monitors scheduling of staff onsite.
  • Accountable for the work of AVL technicians they are supervising: assigns work, monitors productivity, performs QC inspections in alignment with The Summit Standard, and establishes new processes, recommends better tools, or standards.
  • Refines installation techniques and best practices to ensure maximum effectiveness.
  • Leads by influence. While they are a designated work lead, they do not have the authority to directly performance manage others in the unit (PIPs, write ups, etc). This position uses persuasion and solid communication skills to ensure work quality is consistent.
  • Supports Foreman in preparing the crew for projects, attends project Kick-Offs.

Installation Management

  • Review Pack sheets, Order-sheets, Pull Sheets, Install Plans, & Drawing sets for accuracy prior to projects, provides feedback and corrections to Foreman.
  • Assists with the management of product & material inventory onsite when needed
  • Monitors project milestones and executes installation plans effectively and efficiently on site.
  • Update statuses of Install tasks on project documents to track completed and outstanding work.
  • Coordinates AVL Technician logistics for travel & housing when needed.
  • Responsible for maintaining installation carts, tools, and supplies while on site.
  • Responsible for end of day clean up and organization of the jobsite & materials

Installation Execution

  • Utilizes advanced construction skillsets pertaining to large scale AVL system integration; construction fundamentals, rigging/fabrication, drywall & masonry methods, etc.
  • Utilizes & updates all required spreadsheets, drawings, task lists, and internal communication avenues. Communicates problems and/or changes to the site Foreman effectively.
  • Works with local church production teams to exceed their onsite desires and needs. Represent Summit Integrated well in front of a wide range of customer personnel.
  • Utilizing intermediate to expert knowledge of advanced installation skills, leads and executes the installation of audio, visual, and lighting equipment to include:
  • Preparing equipment: Inventorying, testing, labeling, addressing, programming, rack building and soldiering
  • Audio Installation Work: building of racks and wire termination; Hanging/rigging flown speakers; mounting ceiling speakers; setting up and programming consoles; floor pockets; programming and deploying DSP programs; setting up and wiring stage; wireless frequency management; system tuning.
  • Video Installation Work: mounted or flown LED walls; high profile projectors and screens; routers and switchers; distribution equipment; floor pockets; camera systems: video engineering equipment; production communication equipment; building of racks and wire termination; deployment of flat-screen displays and their mounts; extensive digital signage systems; build-out of control rooms and their furniture; conference room technology systems.
  • Lighting Installation Work: Hanging, cabling and addressing lighting fixtures; patching, setting up and programming consoles; building of racks and wire termination; installing and programming architectural control stations; hanging and mounting distribution equipment; floor pockets.
  • Rigging Work: Using gripples and attaching safety cables, aircraft cable fabrication, securing clamps, bolt and thread assembly, and basic unistrut methods. Timber, Concrete, Drywall and Masonry rigging methods; Unistrut load and weight calculations; wall mounted/flown speakers and projections screens; Curtains, both track and dead hung; rigging and operating chain motor/manual hoists; Hanging/Wrapping Lighting and/or LED Truss; Building Arrays, both Installed and/or Touring.
  • Verifies work quality with the Site Foreman, delivers a consistent level of craftsmanship
  • Completes expected daily amount of work that meets or exceeds The Summit Standard
  • Occasionally Transports installation materials & equipment from the Summit warehouse to job-sites across the US

General

  • Assists with Summit Internal & External Marketing & Sales events when extra labor is needed
  • Downloads and maintains active login credentials on all company websites and applications
  • Stays up to date with Master Schedule, submits all PTO/RTO requests to Director of Installation
  • Assists with Shop Assembly & Custom Fabrication/Snake Building as directed

  • Intermediate to Expert level Execution in all Install Areas (Rigging, Wire Pull, Racks, FOH, Video Suite, etc.)
  • Understands SIS ID Technical Drawings at an expert Level (System Design & Intent)
  • Ability to test & troubleshoot AVL Systems at an Expert Level (Diagnostics & Solutions)
  • Ability to Setup, Program, Configure & Pre-Commission various AVL and Network Equipment
  • Deep understanding of how systems are utilized in a Live Production Environment
  • Self-awareness and the ability to modulate response to stressful situations

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $23.50 - $26.00 per hour
