What are the responsibilities and job description for the LPN position at Suncoast Center?

 

Education: Graduated from an accredited LPN program and current Florida LPN license. 

 Experience:  Two years of experience working with MH population. 

Negative Drug Screening prior to hire and throughout employment

Clear Criminal Background Check 

 Working Conditions:  Services are provided on-site

 Computer Literate 

 Job Duties:

 

  1. Writes and files progress notes for all injection and lab work. Completes documentation in a timely manner and includes all pertinent information relating to clients and their care. 
  2. Performs injections during scheduled injection groups at 4024 Central and possibly other locations. 
  3. Performs blood draws during scheduled Clozaril Clinic and Lab Work Clinic.
  4. Manages medication line in an appropriate time frame. 
  5. Monitors for side effects and informs medical staff if present. 
  6. Refers clients attending injection clinic for medication visits and updated MSE at appropriate intervals. 
  7. Orders medications and supplies.   
  8. Makes lab slips and maintain lab and supplies.
  9. Maintains Biohazard Materials. Disposes of same according to OSHA standards. 
  10. Complies with established nursing practices and procedures and adheres to Center polices/procedures. 
  11. Performs duties in a manner that does not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of the employees or others. 
  12. Accomplishes individual goals set forth in previous evaluation. 
  13. Peer review results within acceptable agency standards.                      
  14. Serves client in a warm, accepting, and respectful manner. Does not impose his/her values during the service contract. 
  15. Encourages client’s involvement and independence by encouraging participation and not accepting responsibility for the client’s behaviors, cognitions or feelings.
  16. Shows flexibility, accepts additional duties as assigned by Psychiatric Medical Director and is responsive to requests from supervisors. 
  17. May provide community consultation and education services in selected situations. 
  18. Auditing results within acceptable agency standards.
  19. Answer Medline and respond to client requests for medications. 
  20. Manage Zyprexa Relprev group including 0bservation and coordination of transport by Case Management Aides (CMA).
  21. Manages medical staff meeting schedule and act as Liaison as indicated between internal and external contacts for meeting.
  22. Obtain training relevant to job.
