Job Summary:
The Fraud Investigation Specialist at SunWest Federal Credit Union plays a crucial role utilizing fraud prevention and detection strategies in safeguarding the institution and its members from fraudulent activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Conduct in-depth investigations to determine the root causes of suspected, reported or detected instances of fraud, working closely with other departments. May collaborate with law enforcement and external regulatory agencies.
• Gather and analyze evidence, including transaction records, communication logs, and other relevant information.
• Collect and preserve evidence, maintain a chain of custody as required for potential legal action.
• Utilize fraud detection tools and software to prevent, mitigate, and report fraud and suspicious behavior.
• Stay informed about the latest advancements in fraud detection and prevention tools.
• Support members and other credit union staff in filing claims, management of member relationships, and management of card adjustments to ensure that GL's are cleared timely and member accounts are debited/credited timely.
• Member facing to assist with fraud related challenges. Internally and externally.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• Associate's degree preferred, or similar educational achievement in relevant field.
• 6 months- 2 years related banking, fraud or similar experience required.
• Comprehends Credit Union services and products and Credit Union philosophy.
• Excellent computer efficiency (MS Office/Word/Excel and Outlook), and other office equipment.
• Professional demeanor and phone etiquette required

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions and maintain punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and / or quantitative productivity standards.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 10 lbs.
• Other Duties as may be assigned.
