What are the responsibilities and job description for the FLF/Self-Help Center Internship (unpaid) position at Superior Court of California, County of Yolo?
The Yolo Superior Court Family Law Facilitator and Self-Help Center provides assistance free of charge to persons without an attorney in the areas of family law, restraining orders (domestic violence, civil harassment, elder abuse, workplace violence), guardianships, conservatorships, stepparent adoptions, name change, landlord/tenant matters and small claims. Under supervision by staff attorneys, interns will interview litigants, draft forms and pleadings, provide general legal and procedural information, research legal issues and observe courtroom proceedings. Duties will vary depending upon interns areas of interest and the needs of the litigants we serve.
Desired Qualifications:
-Completion of a high school diploma or equivalent
-Current college student, paralegal student, or law student
-Interest in public service
-Bilingual preferred (Spanish)
