POSITION PURPOSE AND SCOPE:
Performs a variety of working level, technical, and skilled duties as needed to assure the effective and efficient operation of process, packaging, shipping, equipment and machinery.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITES:
- Performs apprentice level skilled duties in support of all process, packaging, plant equipment. Provide timely assistance to all equipment operators in a professional manner.
- Monitors equipment operations; studies equipment manuals and specifications, blueprints, schematics and diagrams as needed to resolve equipment malfunctions. Monitor spare parts received and issue inventory locations, assist maintenance clerk in insuring inventory accuracy. Develop and maintain effective relationship with vendors.
- Evaluate engineering alternatives and make recommendations to Supervisor.
- Assist in installations of electrical and mechanical systems as needed.
- Train equipment operators in basic and routine procedures for making adjustments and tuning of equipment for optimum performance.
- Any other duties and/or responsibilities as assigned.

EDUCATION EXPERIENCE:
Graduation from high school, Completion of specialized training in a mechanical engineering or electrical automation field through formal apprenticeships, professionally sponsored workshops, vocational training, college, or in-service programs
At least six months of experience performing duties related to or above the job requirements.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- General knowledge of electrical automation and mechanical engineering concepts, theories, practices and procedures.
- Ability to avoid and resolve conflicts effectively.
- Ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing with operators, technicians, vendors and management.
- WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Generally performs in an open manufacturing facility and participates in the maintenance and adjusting of equipment. Tasks include: walking, standing, stooping, sitting, reaching, climbing and lifting. Normal eye, hand, and finger dexterity are required. Some exposure to high voltage, pneumatic, hydraulic, stored pressure systems will exist. Exposure to mechanical pinch points will exist.
