Job description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated individual to join our team as a Sand blaster. We are looking for individuals who have excellent attention to detail and are committed to producing high quality etched glassware. As a sand blaster, you will play a crucial role in supporting the daily operations of our deep etch department. Your duties will include material handling, sand blasting, minor repairs and regular maintenance on the blaster machine, and assisting with other various task within the deep etch assembly line process. The ability to use hand tools and power tools effectively is also important. At Susquehanna Glass, our sand blasters etch glassware and ceramics using specialized equipment that sprays abrasive material. The material is typically a mixture of course sand and compressed air. High pressure forces the mixture through a hose to carve the surface of the product.

To succeed, you need to place a high emphasis on producing quality work, be able to stand for long hours, be comfortable with manual labor and have excellent hand-eye coordination. Suitable sand blasters can create beautifully designed articles that fully meet the customer’s specifications.

Sand Blaster Responsibilities:

• Operate and maintain sand blasting equipment
• Collaborate with team members to complete projects on time
• Maintain a clean and organized work area
• Troubleshooting problems as they arise
• Maintain standard of quality control
• Assist with masking or packing when needed

The strongest candidates will have:

• Several years’ experience working as a sand blaster
• Machine operator experience
• Excellent hand-eye coordination
• Operate sand blasting equipment
• Troubleshooting on machinery
• Large volume production tolerance

Additional role details:

• You may need to stand for up to 8 hours. There are two, 15-minute breaks and one 30-minute lunch break. Work may be repetitive at times.
• In general, work hours are from Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 4:30PM. Occasional Saturday work may be required.
• Pay begins at $14 per hour, with many opportunities for advancement
