Overview
Symmons is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer I who will supports and directly impacts the overall performance metrics for the entire manufacturing plant. The MFG Engineer establishes and directs manufacturing practices, processes, procedures, fixtures, tooling, and equipment for production with the goal of achieving higher quality and productivity. The successful engineer will also take into consideration environmental and financial objectives. This position requires the use of lean manufacturing principles to minimize inventory, maximize throughput, and optimize facility utilization.
Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain optimal utilization of manufacturing processes, equipment, and systems.
- Provide first level equipment and floor support to assigned product lines.
- Design tooling and fixtures in support of existing and/or new products.
- Generate work instructions, process control procedures, operating procedures, and process flow maps.
- Work with and train operators, as required, on equipment operation, standard work practices, and process control.
- Design plant or process flow layouts to improve productivity, which can but not limited to the design and construction of flow racks.
- Design and/or procure assembly tools that incorporate safety and ergonomics to produce a quality assembly process.
- Collect and analyze data to improve products and manufacturing processes, leading to higher standard of quality, cost reduction, and increased efficiency.
- Troubleshoot manufacturing, quality, and assembly issues using root cause analysis techniques.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- BS degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or equivalent)
- 0-3 years of experience as a hands-on contributor working on mechanical and/or electromechanical systems in a mid-high-volume manufacturing environment.
- Must be proficient with MS Office, AutoCAD, SolidWorks and other manufacturing software and tools.
- Must have design experience in cutting tool, work-holding, and machinery assembly system design.
- Must have good English written and verbal communication skills.
- Having experience with machining & assembly automation utilizing UR Robotics is a plus but not required.
- PLC programming experience using Ladder Logic or LabVIEW also a plus.
