Summary:
As a Sr Data Engineer, you will collaborate with stakeholders across the business to work on complex technical requirements. You will be responsible for managing multiple engagements, prioritize and resolve complex problems and escalate as necessary, in a fast paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and construct high-performing data architecture for both operational and analytical purposes.
- Create and maintain robust, scalable, and efficient data pipelines.
- Implement complex ETL processes to integrate disparate data sources into a centralized data warehouse.
- Lead the optimization of data flow and collection to support data science and business analytics teams.
- Manage and improve existing databases and data systems, implementing upgrades and enhancements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, business analysts, and IT teams to fulfill data needs and implement solutions.
- Establish data governance and ensure compliance with data security and privacy regulations.
- Mentor junior data engineers and provide guidance on best practices.
- Regularly evaluate system performance, implementing improvements, and conducting system troubleshooting.
- Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and advancements in data engineering.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a data engineering role.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to work with large data sets from multiple sources.
- Proficiency in SQL and experience with relational SQL and NoSQL databases, including Postgres and Cassandra.
- Experience with big data tools: Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, etc.
- Experience with data pipeline and workflow management tools: Azkaban, Luigi, Airflow, etc.
- Experience with AWS cloud services: EC2, EMR, RDS, Redshift.
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively and lead team projects.
- Advanced working SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases, query authoring (SQL) as well as working familiarity with a variety of databases.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with stream-processing systems: Storm, Spark-Streaming, etc.
- Experience with object-oriented/object function scripting languages: Python, Java, C , Scala, etc.
- Proven analytical skills and problem-solving attitude.
- Relevant certifications in data engineering and cloud platforms.
