What are the responsibilities and job description for the Printing Estimator position at Synectics Inc.?
Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate and timely cost estimates for all potential jobs.
- Analyze project specifications, including sizes, paper stocks, run quantities, to prepare accurate cost estimates.
- Utilize historical estimate data, current market trends, and current material availability and pricing to add intelligence into the estimate process.
- Collaborate with sales, project managers, prepress, and production teams to ensure estimates align with in-house capabilities and vendor capabilities.
- Help analyze project costing; estimated vs. actual costs, to identify opportunities to optimize processes or update estimate methods. Analyze standards in estimating system and update when necessary
- Work with vendors to obtain estimates for buy-out work.
- Review vendor estimates to ensure competitive pricing and delivery timelines for outsourced printing or finishing tasks.
- Contact vendors to acquire component part pricing alternatives.
- Update material pricing as needed in the MIS system.
- In-depth knowledge of offset printing processes.
- 3 years of experience in estimating and planning within the offset and digital printing industry.
- Proficiency with printing related MIS systems and MS Excel.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities to manage multiple estimate jobs with varying due dates.
- Effective communication skills to liaise with sales, production, management and outside vendors.
- Ability to work under pressure and adapt to last-minute changes.
