General Job Description:
The Costume Craftsperson creates costume crafts and millinery as designed by the Costume Designer for Syracuse Stage and SU Drama Department productions. They also assist with local shopping and purchasing show materials and shop supplies when needed.
The description of the position in this document is representative and not exhaustive. Regular collaboration between shops in the production department and the wider organization is expected. Duties and responsibilities may shift with organizational needs.
Specific Responsibilities:
1. Pattern and build assigned costume craft and costume accessory pieces.
2. Pattern and build assigned millinery pieces.
3. Alter and decorate assigned footwear and footwear pieces.
4. Fit and alter all assigned costume craft pieces, costume accessory pieces, millinery pieces, footwear, and footwear pieces.
5. Fabric modification and enhancement (painting and dyeing) as needed.
6. Assist with local shopping for costumes, costume pieces, costume materials, and costume shop supplies as needed.
7. Assist with the return of purchased costumes and costume pieces as needed.
8. Assist with the inventory and updating of the MSDS books for the Costume Shop, Craft Shop, and Dye Room.
9. Assist in the maintenance of the Costume Shop workspaces.
10. Participate in other duties as assigned.
