Position Summary
TheSenior Manager, Accounts Payableis responsible for overseeing the end-to-end accounts payable function, ensuring timely and accurate processing of vendor invoices, payments, and expense reimbursements. This role leads a team of AP professionals, drives process improvements, ensures compliance with internal controls and regulatory requirements, and partners cross-functionally to support business operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Accounts Payable team for NRG and its affiliated companies, including hiring, training, performance management, and professional development.
- Oversee daily operations of the AP function, including invoice processing, payment runs, vendor management, and expense reimbursements.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, SOX controls, and external regulatory requirements.
- Manage month-end and year-end close activities related to AP, including accruals and reconciliations.
- P-Card and Virtual Card reconciliations
- Manage 1099 issuance and filings with appropriate government agencies
- Collaborate with Procurement, Treasury, and other departments to resolve issues and improve end-to-end procure-to-pay processes.
- Develop and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
- Deliver system and policy training and ongoing end user communications.
- Maintain strong relationships with vendors and internal stakeholders to ensure timely resolution of inquiries and disputes.
- Monitor KPIs and prepare reports for senior leadership on AP performance, aging, and cash flow impacts.
- Support audits and provide documentation as needed.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or MBA preferred.
- 8 years of progressive experience in accounts payable or shared services, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of AP systems, ERP platforms (SAP preferred), and automation tools.
- Proficiency with Excel, Word and Powerpoint.
- Experience with P-Card and Virtual Card programs
- Proven ability to lead teams, manage change, and drive process improvements.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
