We are seeking a Utility Worker I to join our team in a flour mill environment. This role will involve ensuring the sanitation and cleanliness of the facility, operating various production systems, and providing relief duties across different functions. The ideal candidate will thrive in a physically demanding environment and be dedicated to maintaining a safe and efficient workplace.
Key Responsibilities
Sanitation & Cleaning: Perform routine cleaning of floors, equipment, and the facility grounds. This includes sweeping, shoveling, and wiping down surfaces to maintain a clean and food-safe environment.
Specialized Cleaning: Carry out specialized cleaning tasks, such as bin cleaning, sifter cleaning, conveyor maintenance, and filter sock changes. Tasks may require working in confined spaces or at elevated heights, requiring the use of fall protection.
Machine Operation: Operate manufacturing systems, including processing equipment, and learn to perform basic process maintenance.
Cross-Training: Willingness to get cross-trained in various positions to assist with relief duties as needed across the facility.
Compliance & Safety: Ensure adherence to all company safety policies, including the proper use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) such as steel-toed boots, hard hats, gloves, and safety glasses.
Physical Requirements: The role involves lifting up to 50 lbs, climbing ladders, ascending/descending stairs, and working in a dusty and noisy environment. Employees must be clean-shaven to ensure proper respirator fit.
Required Qualifications
Education : High school diploma or equivalent.
Skills : Strong communication skills (both verbal and written) and basic computer knowledge.
Physical Ability: Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a physically demanding environment.
PPE Compliance: Ability to wear required PPE, including respiratory protection (Qualitative Mask Fit Test required).
Work Ethic: Ability to work independently, follow instructions, and be dependable and punctual.
Preferred Qualifications

Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot equipment failures or issues in the production system.

This role takes place in a loud, dusty flour mill. The facility requires the ability to work in environments where allergens such as wheat dust are present. The worker will need to use fall protection when working at elevated levels and be able to handle the physical demands of the job, including climbing stairs and ladders.
Safety & Compliance: Must pass a Qualitative Mask Fit Test and adhere to safety standards, including maintaining the use of PPE at all times.
Clean-shaven for respirator compatibility (no more than 48 hours of facial hair growth).
