Position Summary: The Driver is responsible for transporting finished goods and raw materials over land to and from manufacturing plants, suppliers or vendors.


Driver Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Transport finished goods and raw materials over land to and from manufacturing plants, suppliers or vendors.

  • Inspect vehicles for mechanical items and safety issues and perform preventative maintenance.
  • Plan routes to meet delivery schedules.
  • Comply with all federal, state and local rules and regulations as well as company policies and procedures.
  • Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions.
  • Report defects, accidents, or violations.
  • Maintain accurate receipts for all fuel purchases.
  • Verify loads against shipping papers.
  • Load and unload trucks.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.

Driver Skills and Specifications:

  • Class A or B CDL License

  • Ability to safely operate the motor vehicle.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Solid problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to contribute and work in a team environment.
  • Ability to demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness to ensure first quality of work.
  • Ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with people in course of work.
  • Willingness to work additional hours in order to meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to safely operate a forklift.

Driver Education and Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent (GED).

  • Current DOT physical.
  • Current Motor Vehicle Record.

Driver Physical Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of Driver, the employee is continually required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop, kneel, and crouch. The employee is occasionally required to crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 45 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Driver Work Environment:

  • While performing the duties of Driver, the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; extreme cold and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
