Job Description
We are seeking a skilled CNC mill machinist to set up and operate CNC milling machines to produce precision parts from raw materials. This role requires the ability to interpret blueprints and technical drawings, program and adjust machine controls, and ensure all parts meet quality and specification standards. The ideal candidate has strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and experience working in a precision machining environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Interpret blueprints, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions, tolerances, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
- Set up and operate CNC milling machines, including selecting, aligning, and securing fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, and materials.
- Demonstrate strong understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
- Calculate and set machining parameters such as speed, feed rate, depth, and angle of cut.
- Program, retrieve, input, or edit CNC machine control commands as required.
- Monitor machine operations to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance conditions.
- Inspect finished parts using precision measuring tools including micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and gauge pins.
- Deburr edges and holes and protect parts from damage during and after machining.
- Troubleshoot machining issues and make adjustments to ensure part accuracy and efficient production.
- Maintain equipment in good working condition and organize tooling and fixtures using lean manufacturing principles.
- Collaborate with department leads, supervisors, and management to report and resolve equipment or production issues.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Proven ability to set up and operate CNC milling machines.
- Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and technical drawings.
- Solid understanding of GD&T.
- Ability to identify drawing numbers, revision levels, tolerances, and bills of materials (BOM).
- Knowledge of proper materials, part dimensions, hole sizes/depths, and thread specifications.
- Understanding of basic G-code programming.
- Working knowledge of Mastercam.
