We design and manufacture innovative, sustainable packaging components for cold-chain shipping of food and pharmaceutical products. The markets we serve have an urgent need for disruptive, sustainable alternatives to replace the wide array of non-sustainable packaging materials conventionally used in the cold chain such as Styrofoam coolers. Role Summary:
As Controls Engineer III you will develop creative solutions to design challenges, build relationships with a diverse range of vendors and collaborate closely with the Mechanical and Process Engineering groups. Provide controls and electronic support at all TemperPack facilities to ensure efficient equipment operations and reduce equipment downtime.
Major Responsibilities:
- Working knowledge of industrial electrical and control systems
- Build and maintain supplier relationships
- Troubleshoot and maintain electrical and pneumatic systems
- Document and demonstrate solutions by developing documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, code comments and clear code
- Perform on-site startup, commissioning, and validation of new machines
Qualifications
Experience and Education:
- 5 years’ experience in Industrial Automation.
- BSEE or BSME with concentration in automation, system integration and machinery preferred
Knowledge and Skills:
- Experience programming and troubleshooting PLCs, HMIs, Servos, VFDs and other controls component – Allen Bradley or Schneider preferred
- Experience with creating and managing electrical schematics - AutoCAD Electrical preferred
- Wide knowledge of standard electric, and mechanical solutions
- Understand, design, and practice machine safety
- Working knowledge of mechanical systems
- Ability to plan, schedule, coordinate and problem solve effectively
- Knowledge of Lock-Out/Tag-Out procedures
- Adept at prototyping and building proof of concept models
- Demonstrate strong communication with colleagues and management
Physical Requirements:
- Able to lift 40 pounds unassisted
- Able to reach, bend, kneel and climb while performing repetitive tasks
- Ability to work in hot and cold environments
- Able to correctly wear PPE for entire shifts
- Able to react and respond quickly to noises, smells, visual hazards, and alerts
