SUMMARY:
This position provides environmental, health, and safety support to the site. Reporting to the Plant Manager this individual is accountable for supporting EHS activities including, but not limited to: routine inspections and corrective actions, EHS sampling activities, packing and shipping of waste, EHS technical support, and tasks to ensure EHS performance and compliance. Position is responsible for: completion of appropriate site tasks; assuring completion of assessments and follow up actions; assisting with closure of EHS findings and tasks on a timely basis; supporting emergency actions and planning; tasks to create a strong EHS culture that engages employees throughout the site in EHS teams and processes. In this role 30%-40% of the individuals time will be spent on purchasing. The individual will be required to assist the team in getting orders processed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct forklift training and evaluation including classroom instruction and hands on training/assessing.
- Conduct lock-out tag-out training to meet plant and compliance requirements.
- Conduct Hazardous Communication training to meet plant and compliance requirements.
- Conduct overhead crane training to meet plant and compliance requirements.
- Record retention of required environmental reports
- Monthly EPE and SWPP inspection and reporting
- Annual SWPP, air permit, SARA title iii form r, and tier ii reporting
- Conduct annual internal EH&S audit as well as appropriate ISO 14001 audits for the plant.
- Address and follow up of daily safety issues and concerns
- Conduct accident investigations to determine root cause. Document investigation finds and participate in disciplinary process related to safety.
- Address ergonomic issues and correct through engineering and maintenance groups
- Raise safety awareness by developing new and maintain safety awareness programs ( fall protection, confined spaced, ladder safety )
- Coordinate company fire extinguisher program.
- Maintain company emergency action plan and coordination
- Arrange and conduct PPE assessment, confined space assessment, noise survey, industrial hygiene survey.
- Maintains MSDS books and keep them up to date along with reviewing MSDS sheets of proposed materials.
- Monitor HFR labeling of containers on production floor to assure compliance.
- Review new equipment installation to address EH&S concerns
- Leads OSHA inspections on behalf of the plant.
- Employee must perform his/her job within acceptable safety, environmental, quality, productivity and performance standards as outlined in plant policies, handbooks and applicable work instructions.
- Purchase all MRO (Maintenance, Repair and Operating supplies) and all non-productive items (Capital Equipment, Tooling and Services). Evaluate and negotiate these items based on price, quality, service, technical support, terms and freight.
- Reconcile invoice and delivery discrepancies.
- Participate in Key Issue, Brainstorming, and Continuous Improvement teams.
- Additional duties may be assigned as needed.

Education and/or Experience
- Two (2) year degree in occupational safety, industrial hygiene, environmental discipline or equivalent.
OR
- High School Diploma/GED and 3 years of experience with an emphasis in environmental, health and safety program management and employee training.
- OSHA 40-hour (Hazwoper) Certification
- RCRA & DOT (Haz-Waste shipping) Certification
