General Job Summary
This position is responsible for developing Falcon shocks for new vehicle applications. That includes establishing requirements, developing concepts, 3D models, and 2D technical drawings for manufacturing, creating prototypes, and testing. Additional responsibilities include solving production and customer satisfaction issues, making production changes to existing products, and process improvement projects.
Qualifications
Education, skills, certifications, qualifications, etc.
- BS in engineering (mechanical preferred)
- 2-6 years’ work experience
- Drawing and GD&T tolerancing experience
- Extensive 3D modeling experience (Solidworks preferred)
- Familiarity with the engineering development process
- Experience with production tolerances and tolerance stack up
- Proficient with mechanical concepts (i.e. free body diagrams, strengths of materials and material properties, vibrations, kinematics, fastener design, etc.)
- Good understanding manufacturing processes (i.e. machining, casting, forging, extrusions, sheet metal, weldments, injection molding)
- Experience designing machined, sheet metal, and injections molded parts for mass production
- Off road enthusiast a plus
- Hands on mechanical automotive experience
- Automotive aftermarket and EOM experience a plus
- Good understanding of DFM
- Ability to operate manual machine lathe a plus
- Ability to communicate effectively with Vendors, suppliers and customers

Key responsibilities, duties, functions
- Lead moderately complex projects
- Determine product requirements through interdepartmental collaboration, benchmarking, and solicitation from key stakeholders
- From the product requirements, create design concepts and evaluate their feasibility
- Develop 3D models and assemblies
- Analyze technical feasibility through benchmarking, hand calculations, simulations, and physical testing
- Work with QC Department to create accurate drawings with correct GD&T to ensure vendors can provide parts that meet specifications
- Create test specifications, plans, and reports, and perform product testing
- Investigate production quality issues involving basic root cause analysis, and recommend changes to the drawings to ensure clear communication
- Contribute to technical standards and documentation
- Contribute to process improvement activity
