Texoma Community Center (TCC) is one of 39 Texas Community Centers, which are governmental entities as defined by Title 7 of the Texas Health and Safety Code.
Position Summary: This position is responsible for providing assistance and support to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities through face-to-face interactions. Responsibilities include effective communication, maintaining individuals’ safety, enhancing personal well-being, promoting social, emotional, and intellectual growth, implementing processes and procedures as developed by the Supervisor and Nursing staff. Position goals include assisting individuals with achieving objectives to acquire, retain or improve self-help skills, socialization skills or adaptive skills that are necessary to for the individual to successfully reside, integrate and participate in the community, reinforce a skill taught in school or professional therapies, assisting an individual with his or her personal care activities if the individual cannot perform such activities without assistance. This position is also responsible for total care including but not limited to transporting, lifting, transferring, medication administration, feeding/g-tube, toileting/changing briefs and bathing of individuals in accordance with the philosophy, goals and objectives of Texoma Community Center. This position will be responsible for implementing a trauma informed model of care in all services provided which align with CCBHC standards.
Qualifications:
Education and/or Experience:
- High School Graduate or GED equivalent and two (2) years’ experience with TCC services or related agency
- Experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental issues desirable.
Certificates, Licensure, Registrations:
- Current driver’s license and vehicle for use at work
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Experience working with individuals with mental and developmental disabilities highly desirable.
- Must be physically able to, with assistance, lift, transfer, change undergarments, and bathe adult clients as needed.
- Consistently practices Trauma-informed Model of Care, understands and considers the pervasive nature of trauma.
- The knowledge of cultural differences and ability to work with individuals from different cultural backgrounds.

- Ability to provide clear and concise documentation within regulatory guidelines.
- Ability to perform weight bearing services for adult clients as needed.

- Ability to effectively communicate in both written and verbal format.
- Ability to work cooperatively and communicate effectively to maintain good working relationships.
- Ability to work with skill in identifying problems and presenting potential solutions.
