What are the responsibilities and job description for the Direct Support Professional position at The Arc Greater Hudson Valley, NY?
As a DSPR you will be providing individualized, person-centered, skills training and supports to individuals with developmental disabilities in home and community settings. This position is great for those who want to come to work and make a difference in people’s lives every day.
There is no experience in this field required. We offer paid training.
A Glimpse into the life of a Direct Support Professional:
Start your day by assisting the people we support get ready for their day, greet them when they come home after attending program or working at their community-based job, working together to prepare dinner and clean up, assist them getting ready for bed and doing household chores. When your day or evening or night is done, sit back and think of what you have accomplished and how you feel in assisting the people we provide supports and services to. You’ve made a difference in someone’s life.

- That being a direct support professional you can be paid to do things such as: Camping, vacations, gardening, picnics, daytrips, assisting the individual’s in achieving goals, and being a part of community involvement
