Summery : The Arc of Union County, Inc. is a non-profit, 501c (3) organization headquartered in Springfield, NJ, dedicated to enriching the lives of individuals of all ages with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The Arc serves more than 1,000 adults and children each month from the 21 towns in Union County, as well as the greater Northern and Central NJ counties. The Arc of Union County Inc. is a leading provider of Person-Centered services to individuals with intellectual disabilities.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide skilled services including wellness monitoring, education, and training to individuals to acquire the skills and experience needed to participate in the community, consistent with the participant’s Service Plan.
- Support participants with healthy lifestyles, physical therapy, building problem-solving skills, self-help, social skills, adaptive skills, daily living skills, and leisure skills. Activities and environments are designed to foster the acquisition of skills, building positive social behavior and interpersonal competence, greater independence, and personal choice.
- Engages service recipients in small or large group outings to the community, leisure, educational activities, and community experiences.
Qualifications:
- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be 18 years of age or older. Willing to learn or some familiarity, knowledge, or experience in Day Habilitation and/or Social Supports Services for Individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Required a Valid New Jersey driver’s license and abstract (not to exceed 5 points), and ability to meet agency insurability requirements.
ADA (to include but not limited to):
This is an active role position which requires a minimum of 30% sitting, 40% walking/standing, 10% driving, 20% lifting and or moving Items. These roles will require staff to lift or transfer a minimum of 35 lbs during routine tasks. Ability to apply Agency Training Crisis Management Techniques when necessary consistent with criteria as trained; the techniques include Punch Blocks, Kick Blocks, Bear Hug, Basket hold and Take Down.
