Special Education Teacher
Responsibilities
Classroom/Inclusion Setting:
Within mainstream or in a pullout setting, provide teamed, small group or individualized instruction and/or academic support according to the general and specific goals outlined in students' individualized educational plans.
Collaborate with service providers as indicated in student education plans.
Oversee the assignment of Learning Assistants, if indicated by Principal or Special Ed Coordinator.
To provide small group or individual instruction to special needs pupils as prescribed in their educational plans.
Modify and adapt the curricula, materials, and physical environment to meet the needs of individual students.
Professional/Other:
Participate in IEP Team meetings
Complete IEP paperwork as indicated
Complete/update student attendance, communication, other records daily or as assigned.
To provide consultation services to school staff in terms of modifying curriculum, teaching style to meet the needs of special education students, if indicated.
To attend special needs staff meetings and designated school staff meetings as indicated by the Principal or Team Chair.
