Responsibilities
The GNC System Architecture group at Draper is seeking a Senior GNC Systems Engineer to develop and analyze next-generation guidance, navigation, and control (GNC) systems for mission domains such as: strategic deterrent systems, missile defense systems, hypersonic missiles, space systems, precision guided munitions, and autonomous air/sea vehicles. Multi-disciplinary teams innovate new GNC system solutions over the full system development lifecycle from trade studies, to concept and architecture design, to integration, to testing and operation.
Responsibilities of this position:
- Lead modeling and analysis efforts in support of GNC system definition and architecture
- Translate customer needs into system use cases, requirements, architecture, design, and performance modeling
- Develop and implement strategic digital engineering and model-based system engineering (MBSE) methodologies
- Develop systems engineering/design artifacts and documentation
A successful candidate will be motivated to build deeper expertise in both the core mission domains and underlying GNC technology. This position will provide exposure to a wide range of advanced technologies (including inertial sensors, imagers, precision electronics, and advanced algorithms) as well as provide growth opportunities in the development of capabilities to address the nation’s current security challenges.
Qualifications
Required qualifications:
- An M.S. degree or higher in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related field
- 5 years of professional experience in development of defense/space avionics
- Experience in modeling of dynamical systems and simulation-based performance analysis
- Programming experience in MATLAB, Simulink, C, and C
- Ability to support a full range of systems engineering activities for multiple programs
- Strong presentation skills and the ability to articulate complex technical ideas to both internal and external stakeholders
Any of the following additional qualifications are highly desirable:
- Active Security Clearance at the TS level
- Experience with model-based systems engineering (MBSE) frameworks and tools
