The Data Entry Associate (EHR File Tech) is an integral member of the multi-disciplinary team who functions under the direction of a supervisor. The position provides professional, courteous, and friendly assistance to our customers. The EHR File Tech serves as a resource for internal customers by utilizing a number of resources such as established Cigna policies; protocols and guidelines to ensure delivery of quality care within the guidelines of Evernorth Care Group (ENCG) Standard Operating Procedures, Policies, and Procedures. Contributes to the organization’s drive to achieve “Triple Aim”: improved individual customer experience, improved health and quality of care, and reduced cost of care. This is a full-time work at home position, however in order to be considered candidates MUST reside in Arizona.
Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
Ensures accurate placement of complex health information including, but not limited to clinical records, in the correct patient Electronic Health Record (EHR) within identified timeframes to ensure current patient information is available for continuity and quality of patient care.
Files documents accurately in the EHR according to approved filing structure, adapts to changes in processes and meets quality standards of 98% accuracy.
Ability to reach and maintain 85% – 100% quality assurance trust level in current EHR.
Ability to achieve precise filing at a rate of 55 pages per hour.
Prioritizes daily work to include problem solving and decision making, independently, with minimal direct supervision.
Manages own time and work. Understands and follows through with minimal direction from supervisor, clinicians, colleagues and peers.
Research patient information in computer to determine location of care, Medical Record Number, Medical Identification Number, medical terminology, etc.
Evaluates issues and makes decisions autonomously for less complex issues. Seeks guidance from supervisor for complex issue resolution.
Performs quality assurance activities to ensure accuracy of filing.
Appropriately tasks providers for review of scanned documents per accepted protocol.
Demonstrates a positive customer service approach in all internal and external customer experiences.
Identifies opportunities for self-development. Understands expectations of developing additional competencies.
Receives feedback objectively. Requests additional input as needed.
Shares information or concerns openly and honestly.
Needs to communicate effectively through reading, writing, and speaking in person or on telephone.
Use of computers will be required
Complexity and Scope:
With minimal supervision, accurately and promptly files Protected Health Information (PHI) into ENCG’s EHR. Ensures documents in Hyland OnBase Unity Client are accurately maintained for all patients and meets quality standards, therefore driving quality patient care. Research patient information in multiple applications, as necessary. Communicates with internal staff on a daily basis without direct supervision. Interacts with all levels of staff in a variety of departments, including clinicians. Provides exceptional customer service and maintains patient confidentiality.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School education or equivalent.
General understanding of medical terminology, to include knowledge of: diagnostic and therapeutic studies and tests; specialty names; etc.
One year customer service in health care and PC skills required.
A minimum of one year Health Information Technology experience required.
Previous EHR experience required, Hyland OnBase Unity Client experience preferred.
Ability to convey information to customers in a warm, clear, concise manner.
Good oral and written communication skills required.
Demonstrates positive customer service behaviors.
