What are the responsibilities and job description for the Playground Programs Assistant position at The City of Plymouth?
Under the direction of the Parks and Recreation Manager, Recreation Supervisors and Coordinators, you can help enhance the Plymouth community with diverse programs, lifelong leisure and fitness activities, social connections, and educational opportunities for Plymouth residents of all ages and abilities.
Plymouth Parks & Recreation Department offers a wide variety of programs and classes throughout the year. We are currently hiring seasonal staff for our 2024 summer programs. If you have any further questions, feel free to contact the Recreation Office at 763-509-5200.
Playground Assistant
Design and conduct programs for children of all abilities, ages 3 - 10 at various park locations in Plymouth. Activities include crafts, games, sports, playground time, staff led activities and field trips.
- Programs include:
- Pre-K Little Adventures Program
- 9:30 am - 11:30 am
- Plymouth Community Center
- All Day Playground Program
- 8:00 am - 4:30 pm
- Bass Lake Playfield, Parkers Lake Park, Zachary Playfield, Plymouth Community Center and Plymouth Creek Playfield
- Pre-K Little Adventures Program
- Minimum age 15 years
- Part-time hours: 10 - 40 hours/week, Monday - Friday (hours vary).
- Typical Shifts for All Day Playground Program: 7:45 am – 12:30 pm, 12:00 pm - 4:45 pm or 7:45 am – 4:45 pm
- Pay range: $13.79 - $15.52/hour

- Plans, organizes and direct activities for all ages and abilities in a recreation setting.
- Provide support as needed for all participants and staff to create an inclusive environment.
- Works as part of a team to ensure quality programs for all ages and abilities.
- Follows staff policies and procedures.
- Ensures all staff and participants follow the established policies and procedures.
- Provide a safe, fun, and appropriate experience of all participants.
- Must be 15 years of age or older on program start date.
- Must enjoy working with young children.
- Previous experience working with children helpful but not necessary.
