What are the responsibilities and job description for the Certified Athletic Trainer position at The College of St. Scholastica?
Provide athletic training services to a wide diversity of student-athletes in an athletic or clinical environment, i.e. collegiate athletic training room, team practices, home and away competitions; including prevention and assessment of injuries, patient education, treatment, rehabilitation, consultation services, appropriate referrals to medical professionals and other related patient care services under the supervision of team physicians and head athletic trainer. The athletic trainer will perform professional services essential for the successful implementation and development of the athletic training program working within the College’s strong Benedictine heritage and College diversity and inclusion goals.

Required Qualifications
- Graduate of BOC recognized Athletic Training Program
- Successful completion of BOC examination
- Current MN Board of Medical Practice licensure or eligible for Athletic Training Licensure in MN
- Current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) at a professional healthcare provider level.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with sports medicine staff, coaches and a wide diversity of healthcare providers and student-athletes.
- Strong cultural competency skills and demonstrated experience communicating and interacting effectively in a culturally competent manner with a wide diversity of athletes, including diversity of race, gender, sexual orientation, nationality and abilities.
- Knowledge of and experience effectively developing treatment plans for gender specific injuries and sensitivity to patients with such injuries regardless of gender.
- Knowledge of the precautionary measures required for handling blood borne pathogens.
- Ability to walk, run, bend, and stoop due to nature of Athletic Trainer responsibilities.
- Possess analytical, critical thinking and organizational skills.
- Evidence of strong cross-cultural oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work.
- Ability to use good judgment in emergency situations.
- Evidence of ability to remember multiple policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of application of computer systems and programs.

Must be able to work indoors and outdoors in conditions that include extreme temperatures and loud and constant noise. Must be physically able to provide life-saving techniques. Must be able to travel for long periods of time and possess the agility to perform athletic trainer activities.

Preferred Qualifications
- CSCS, PES, or comparable certification
- Knowledge of learning disabilities and sensitivity to working with and developing effective treatment plans for athletes with learning disabilities.
