What are the responsibilities and job description for the CUSTODIAN - FULL TIME position at The County of Adams?
We're seeking a dedicated and hardworking individual to join our Building & Maintenance Department in Adams County. As a Custodian/Maintenance Helper, you'll play a vital role in ensuring our facilities, including the Human Service Building, County Magistrate Offices, and more, are clean, safe, and well-maintained for employees and visitors alike.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform basic facility tasks and equipment repairs (e.g., changing lightbulbs, moving furniture, clearing clogged drains)
- Conduct lawn care tasks (e.g., mulching, weeding, trimming, grass cutting)
- Clean the facility and handle spills or messes in the absence of custodial staff
- Maintain cleanliness in restrooms and restock supplies as needed
- Unload trucks and deliver supplies
- Deliver and return records to Archives, shred documents, and manage recycling bins
- Restock custodial closets and assist with event setup
- Escort outside vendors and perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications:
1. Experience with commercial cleaning preferred
2. Experience with basic construction techniques preferred
3. Basic maintenance practices and procedures.
4. Operating handheld tools safely and effectively.
5. Performing custodial duties safely and effectively.
6. Operating lawn and snow removal equipment safely and effectively.
7. Ability to read to understand chemical labels and basic directions.
8. Valid PA driver’s license
9. Must be able to pass a criminal fingerprint background check before and during employment.
