POSITION SUMMARY
The Surgery Coordinator assumes responsibility and accountability for the surgery patient during all phases of the surgery process in collaboration with the physicians and other departments of the practice. Generates and coordinates the necessary information and arrangements for patient surgery. While this position is primarily in Branford, CT, you will be required to spend 25% of your time in Orange to cover vacations etc. Also training for this important role is in Waterbury, CT.
Essential Functions Statement(s)
- Meets with patient and dispenses surgery information. Explains treatment procedures, and physicians' instructions to patients.
- Main conduit of information between patient, the practice, primary care and other physicians involved in the care of the patient, insurance carrier and the surgical facility throughout surgery process.
- Thoroughly screens data obtained for completeness and obtains any additional information that is required. Assures the presence of the operative consent, facility consent, history and physical, all laboratory reports, medical clearance and any other documentation that may be required.
- Arranges for and assures all needed pre-certification and other insurance requirements.
- Maintains positive attitude consisting of cooperation, self-motivation, courtesy, and professionalism.
- Complies with all practice procedures and protocols. Complies with all State and Federal regulations. Understands and accepts responsibility to report potential or suspected errors to the Supervisor or Compliance Officer.

- SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Education: High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)
Experience: Six months to one year related experience
