Controller Job Description:

This position has the overall responsibility for the accounting and reporting of financial information. The Controller ensures financial data is accurate and ensures that reporting deadlines are met. This person will be responsible for evaluating existing accounting and financial procedures and implementing new streamlined policies to assist leadership in broader organizational objectives. The Controller will report to the partners of MCR.

Duties include, but not limited to:

• Manage full-cycle accounting across a portfolio of real estate and private equity assets
• Prepare quarterly investor distributions by performing waterfall calculations, carried interest, and incentive fees utilizing AppFolio IM Software
• Generate monthly statements of income, balance sheets and cash flow of the company utilizing QuickBooks
• Managing the accumulation, consolidation, and projection of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting of consolidated business results
• Developing and monitoring business performance metrics
• Manage daily financial operations as it pertains to accounts receivable and payable
• Oversee and approve pay apps related to job cost accounting
• Run annual tax planning, tax preparation, and K1 distribution in coordination with outside firms
• Support senior management and deal teams in all phases of underwriting and financial analysis.
• Analyze cashflow models to evaluate ROI, IRR, and profitability of potential and existing deals
• Manage relationships with investors, service providers, and lenders to support the due diligence process in acquisitions, dispositions, and financings by interfacing with consultants/third parties on gathering required materials

Ideal Candidate:

The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of accounting, GAAP, and tax-related matters.  Applicants will need to have excellent communication skills, be fluent with Microsoft Office, Excel, and must be highly organized and self-driven to add structure, support, and organization to a growing real estate investment firm. The ideal candidate will be team-oriented with the ability to work independently as needed and support ad/hoc activities.

Required Qualifications

• 5-8 years in financial accounting
• Excellent quantitative /analytical and verbal /written communication skills
• Ability to work in fast paced, casual yet professional atmosphere
• CPA preferred, not a must
